"A young Portuguese scientist in Antarctica"

   APECS Portugal presents the second polar science webinar in Portuguese with the guest José Queirós.

   José Queirós is a PhD student at the University of Coimbra, carrying out his research at the Center for Studies on the Sea and the Environment (MARE – Portugal) and at the British Antarctic Survey (BAS – United Kingdom). His work focuses on studying the deep sea food chains of the Southern Ocean, especially related to cod fishing in Antarctica and Patagonia, and understanding how these can be affected by global change, anthropogenic disturbances and contaminants. With more than 9 months aboard fishing vessels in the various regions of the Southern Ocean, and having recently completed a 3-month mission at the King Edward Point Science Base on the island of South Georgia. He has also been associated with APECS since 2014.
