Ana Gomes
Ana Gomes has a degree in Biochemistry from the Faculty of Sciences/Institute of Biomedical Sciences Abel Salazar (FCUP/ICBAS) of the University of Porto (UP, Portugal). She holds a Masters in Applied Biology with a focus on Pollution, Toxicology and Marine Biology from the University of Aveiro (UA, Portugal).
She carried out her master’s thesis at the Arctic Department of the University of Århus (Denmark) on arctic marine bacterial communities with the ability to degrade oil. Her main areas of interest are polar ecology and microbiology and the impact of anthropogenic activities on Arctic marine ecosystems.
She has already collaborated with the Interdisciplinary Center for Marine and Environmental Research (CIIMAR, Portugal) in the study of Arctic marine bacterial communities and was involved in the organization of the 13th Portuguese Polar Sciences Conference.
She has been a member of the Executive Committee of APECS Portugal since January 2022.
