Beatriz Bento is a Chemical Engineer. During her Master studies at the Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon, she focused on Environmental Chemistry in Antarctic regions.

   She worked on the research project  MercAntar, studying the biogeochemical processes of mercury (Hg) in Antarctic ecosystems, in collaboration with the Water Quality Center Trent University, Canada. Beatriz has been to Deception Island during one of the Portuguese Polar Program (PROPOLAR) expeditions.

   Currently, Beatriz is working as an engineer at The Navigator Company at the Direcção de Produção Papel do Complexo Industrial de Setúbal.

   She has been a member of the APECS Portugal Executive Committee since March 2017.
