Eva Silva Lopes graduated in Biology, from the University of Aveiro, and has a master’s degree in Marine Sciences-Marine Resources, with a specialization in Marine Biology and Ecology, from the Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences (University of Porto).

   She currently works as a researcher at the Interdisciplinary Center for Marine and Environmental Research, and collaborations with Norwegian institutions. Her main areas of interest are the distribution and diversity of marine microbes in polar environments, and how these communities respond to the nitrogen cycle. In addition to her scientific work, she is also interested in diving, environmental education and sustainability.

   Se is a member of the APECS Portugal Executive Committee since 2022.
