Lucas Bastos has a degree in Biology from the Faculty of Science and Technology of Coimbra University (2021). As the marine world has been a great passion of his since he was very young, he’s now in the first year of a master’s degree in Marine Biology and Global Changes. 

   Having already carried out some work related to the geographic distribution of cephalopods in the Southern Ocean, for his thesis, he will study the phylogeny of cephalopods in the Southern Ocean, with the aim of understanding their phylogeographical evolution.

   He has been part of the Executive Committee of APECS Portugal since January 2023.
