Santiago Villalobos Dantas

Santiago Villalobos Dantas has a master’s degree in Polar Law from the University of Akureyri, in Iceland. The multidisciplinary character of the master’s allowed him to develop a more comprehensive and sensitive perspective in relation to the study of the polar regions.

However, his interest is more in the social and political sciences related to the Arctic, and in how the phenomena of globalization and climate change have affected ways of thinking and understanding the Arctic. He is currently developing strategies to link Portugal to the Arctic.

He interned at the Iceland Research Center (RANNÍS) and has some sporadic collaborations with the Stefansson Arctic Institute (SVS). At the moment he is looking for new challenges and opportunities, working and researching as a freelancer.
